Toxicology has historically focused on assessing the adverse effects of single chemicals at high levels of exposure. Although this approach has provided the foundation for human health risk assessment and regulation, most chemical exposures involve concurrent exposures to complex mixtures of chemicals at relatively low concentrations. In response to this challenge we employ modern predictive toxicology techniques such as quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) modeling in addition to classic human health risk assessment methods. Our goal is to assist in identifying and stratifying those chemicals that pose the greatest risk and should be the focus of directing company resources to most efficiently guard against potential worker and/or consumer health issues.
